A woman wounded during a triple shooting on a 7th Ward street early Sunday died several hours later from her injuries, the Orleans Parish coroner's office said.

Lakita M. Brown, 27, of New Orleans and two men were standing near the corner of A.P. Tureaud Avenue and North Toni Street about 3:30 a.m. when a masked gunman walked up and opened fire, according to a preliminary New Orleans Police Department log.

New Orleans police said an officer on patrol in the area heard gunfire and found the victims shot as a crowd of about two dozen people scattered from the scene.

Brown was shot in the leg and abdomen, according to the police log. She died at Interim LSU Public Hospital about 10:50 a.m., the coroner's office said.

The two men she was with also were shot multiple times and taken to the hospital. Their conditions were not available Monday.

Police did not immediately have any information on a suspect or motive.
