A 16-year-old was killed and another teen was injured after a single-car crash in Nolensville Saturday night.

Taylor C. Brewer, of Arrington, TN, was transported by LifeFlight helicopter from the scene and later pronounced dead at Vanderbilt Hospital.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Brewer, a Page High School baseball player, was driving southbound on Haley Lane, near Highway 840 in Williamson County, with another passenger. His car swerved onto the right shoulder, struck a mailbox and ran off the road.

At that point, his car went airborne and crashed into a tree. It eventually came to rest after sliding through a fence.
Officials are unsure what caused the car to lose control.

The passenger was also injured. The extent of his injuries are still unknown at this time.
Police say Brewer was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

"Taylor Brewer exemplified great character as a Page High baseball player and student. We mourn the loss of Taylor and celebrate his life today. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family," said Page High Principal Dr. Andrea Anthony in a news release.
