Scott County Sheriff's Office officials said they've recovered the body of a 17-year-old boy who drowned Friday night at Roosevelt State Park.

Officials said a 17-year-old boy from Morton went under the water at Shadow Lake at about 5:15 p.m. and never resurfaced.

Scott County sheriff's deputies identified the victim as Steven Hackler. They said he disappeared while swimming with his church youth group.

"They were swimming prior to this," said Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee. "It does seem something went wrong in the water, but what that was we just don't know right now."

The Scott County coroner will perform an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Friends said Hackler was a rising senior at Morton High School.
