It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of our son, grandson, brother, and uncle Jonathon Peter Bergen on Monday, January 30th, 2012 as a result of a motor vehicle accident near Edmonton, AB. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11th, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home 338 4th Avenue North (corner of 4th Avenue and 25th Street) with Bill Thompson officiating. Lunch will follow at the W.A. Edwards Family Center just across the street. Interment will take place at Vanscoy Cemetery in Vanscoy, Sk. Jonathon Peter Bergen was born on October 13th, 1989 at Saskatoon City Hospital. He attended Vanscoy Elementary School followed by Delisle Composite School. Jonathon earned his Certificate for successful completion of Industrial Mechanics in June 2010 at SIAST in Saskatoon. He is survived by his parents, Brian and Debbie Bergen; two sisters Renee Bergen (Darrell Rozsa) and Tracy Bergen; along with two nephews Parker and Connor Rozsa all of Vanscoy, Sk. He is also survived by his grandmother Margaret Larock of Eatonia, Sk. as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jonathon was predeceased by his Grandpa Larock; grandparents John and Helen Bergen; as well as both sets of great grandparents. Jonathon played hockey for a season or two in Vanscoy when he was young, but decided hockey was not for him. He took up Youth Bowling at Fairhaven Bowl in Saskatoon. Jonathon truly enjoyed this sport, so he excelled in it. He proudly brought home many pendants, trophies and certificates. In grade six, Vanscoy Elementary School took the students on a ski trip. Jonathon very quickly discovered that snowboarding was his new sport of choice. Recently he had taken a few snowboarding days when home for Christmas and even planned a trip to Fernie, BC with a couple of friends for this coming weekend. Once Jonathon entered High School, basketball was his favorite sport. He made the Junior Boys' basketball team, just as his sisters had before him. This allowed him to travel to many small communities as well as a few provincial tournaments in Alberta. Mr. Len Jeffries coached him and mentored him into having true sportsmanship. He worked in Saskatoon at Wal Mart, numerous Tire shops, pizza delivery driver, National Energy, CanDo Delivery and Galaxy Theatre as well as occasionally helping a friend with his furniture moving business. On March 3rd, 2011 he moved to Sylvan Lake, AB to work as an Xray technician on the oil pipeline. The great outdoors and everything about it truly brought a broad smile to his face. Jonathon's true devotion was his family. He deeply loved and missed all of us but especially his nephews, Parker and Connor along with his cousin, Rayvyn Braun. He spent as much time with those as he could when he was around and was moving back home in April 2012 to be with all of us. Donations from family and friends may be made at any provincial Affinity Credit Union. Arrangements have been entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME. Ph 244-5577
