The body of a 15-year-old northwestern Indiana boy was found along the Lake Michigan shore near where he went missing while swimming with three friends.

Indiana conservation officer Gene Davis says a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary was walking along a beach in Ogden Dunes about 4:45 a.m. Tuesday when he spotted the body of Corey McFry of Portage. The body was discovered about a quarter of a mile from where McFry was last seen Sunday evening.

Davis says McFry was at Portage Lakeshore Park with friends when he either stepped off a sandbar or was knocked off by 4-foot waves and went under water. The area was under a rip current advisory at the time. Two friends looked for McFry while another went to shore to call 911.
