A two-car head-on crash near Arlington on the evening of Wednesday, March 14, saw both drivers killed.

Neither Andrew Enderud, 31, of Lake Stevens, nor James Arneson, 64, of Lynnwood, survived when Enderud's Chevrolet crossed the center line and collided with Arenson's Cadillac around 9 p.m. on Highway 9 outside of Arlington, just north of the Stillaguamish River at Schloman Road.

Thory Arneson, 38, of Lynnwood, was a passenger in James Arneson's Cadillac, and suffered serious injuries for which he was sent to the Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, but those injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Keith Leary. Leary added that he believes Thory Arneson is James Arneson's son.

Leary explained that lack of lighting, wet roads, weather and speed all could have played parts in causing the crash, but emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing. A section of Highway 9 was closed on both lanes for nearly four hours as part of the crash investigation.
