An early morning crash in Rutherford County has claimed the life of a young woman and investigators said alcohol played a role.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said that 23-year-old Niles Pistole ran off the road on West Jefferson Pike and flipped his vehicle killing his passenger, 21-year-old Emilee Jordan.

Troopers said both Pistole and Jordan had been drinking-and Jordan didn't have her seat belt on. Pistole has been charged with vehicular homicide and DUI.
