Cheryl L. Samson, 48, went to the loving arms of God on December 1, 2011. She was born June 4, 1963, and grew up in rural West Fargo, ND, the daughter of H.D. (Duke) and Patricia Samson. She graduated from West Fargo High School in 1981. She was currently Director of Admissions for Regent Care Center in Reno, Nevada.

Cheryl was raised on a horse farm north of West Fargo and became an accomplished rider at a young age to the delight of her grandfather "Smitty" and her parents. She participated in horse shows and the high school rodeo circuit while competing on the local and national level. She traded in her horses to become a motocross mom while watching her son, Christopher, race throughout Nevada and California. With her fashion model looks and lipstick smile, she brightened the lives of everyone she crossed paths with in her active life. Her sharp sense of wit and humor mixed in with a bit of cowgirl attitude made her the sparkplug of the Samson family. She loved introducing her friends to her mom and pops and spoiled her niece "Mikker" and nephew "Shandy" at every opportunity. She was always a best friend to her sister Lisa and included her brother "Davey" on her cross country adventures. Cheryl made sure everyone in the family was doing OK, even after the recent heart breaking loss of her son, who was the center of her universe. She taught others how to be courageous not only in her personal life but also in her work life and Cheryl made the impossible possible for herself and all those around her. Cheryl had a deep admiration and respect for her nursing home residents and families at her recent employment and in return, she received the same. She wasn't just a daughter or mom or sister or aunt or friend, she was so much more; she was beautiful, like a rainbow.

Cheryl is survived by her parents, H.D. (Duke) and Patricia Samson of Harwood, ND; brother, David (Andrea) Samson, West Fargo, ND; sister, Lisa (Scott) Toenies, Hillsboro, ND; niece and nephew, Mikkaela and Shandon Toenies, Hillsboro, ND; many loving cousins, and numerous special friends. She is preceded in death by her son, Christopher J. Samson; aunt, Shirley Rued; uncles, James Smith and Jack Jerikovsky; maternal grandparents, Francis and Minnie Smith; and paternal grandparents, Henry and Nina Samson.

A visitation will be held Friday at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND from 5:00-7:00 pm and prayer service at 7:00 pm.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:00 am at Maple Sheyenne Lutheran Church, Harwood, ND.
