A 14-year-old Gaylord girl was killed in a two-car crash on a slush-covered highway Wednesday afternoon in Montcalm County.

According to Montcalm County Sheriff William Barnwell, the department received a call at 1:34 p.m. of an accident on North Sheridan Road (M-66) north of McBride Road in Day Township.

Montcalm County Sheriff's deputies and Michigan State Police responded to find two cars and six people involved in the accident that resulted in the death of Sarah Guthrie.

Police reported a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Doreen Guthrie, 53, of Riverdale, was traveling southbound on Sheridan Road when the she reportedly lost control of the vehicle on slush-covered roads, crossed the centerline and the passenger's side, where Sarah was sitting, was struck by a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Deborah Beach, 54, of Edmore.

Sarah Guthrie, of Gaylord, the stepdaughter of Doreen Guthrie, was pronounced dead at the scene.
