The body of a 24-year-old Manitowoc man was recovered from the Manitowoc harbor on Sunday morning.

Jesse Neuser was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:19 p.m. Sunday by Manitowoc County Coroner Curtis Green, who released Neuser's identity on Monday afternoon.

An autopsy was completed at the Fond du Lac County medical examiner's office on Monday. The cause of death is pending further investigation and toxicology tests, Green said in a press release.

There was no obvious major trauma to Neuser's body, Green said. Alcohol may have been a factor in his death, Green said. Neuser had not been reported missing. He had not been in the water for more than 36 hours.

Manitowoc police and Green's office are investigating. Anyone with information is urged to call police at (920) 686-6551.

According to a press release from Manitowoc police Capt. Larry Zimney:

Officer Scott Keil was on patrol near the car ferry dock area shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday when he saw an object floating in the water. The Manitowoc Fire Department was called and brought its Zodiac boat .

Before rescuers could launch, officers saw a U.S. Coast Guard vessel leaving the marina and hailed it via radio. The Coast Guard boat confirmed that it was a body floating in the water. Crew members brought the body aboard and sailed to the marina, where officers and firefighters met them.
