A Sierra Vista teen was arrested after a multi-vehicle accident left an 18-year-old girl dead.

Deborah Marie Schumacher, 18, died at a Tucson hospital where she was taken by helicopter following the four-vehicle accident Friday afternoon, Cpl. Scott Borgstadt, spokesman for the Sierra Vista Police Department, said in a press release.

Three other people involved in the accident at about 4:15 p.m. near Coronado Drive and Laurel Lane in Sierra Vista, who sustained non-life threatening injuries, were taken to the hospital. One was airlifted and two were transported by ambulance.

Both north- and southbound traffic on Coronado Drive was shutdown between Golf Links Road and Baywood Lane for more than three hours while the SVPD accident reconstruction team investigated the scene.

Jade Tyler Ideus, 19, was arrested for giving investigators false information.

"After interviewing witnesses, police determined that Ideus was the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident," Borgstadt said. "Ideus originally told officers he was just a passenger in the vehicle."

He was booked into the Cochise County Jail on the misdemeanor charge.

This accident remains under investigation.
