The horrifying moment a terminally ill teacher leapt 350ft to her death from Argentina's Iguazu Falls was caught on camera by tourists.

Footage shows Monica Patricia Heck, 37, clambering from a walkway onto a rock near the Garganta del Diablo (The Devil's Throat) before lowering herself into the cascade.

With hundreds of screaming onlookers unable to stop her, she quickly vanishes into the water.

Tour guide Miguel Angel Alvarenga said she was near a railing when she crossed it and stood on a rock.

Surprised, those present started to shout at her but she launched herself into the void. The group was evacuated from the area following the incident.

Her body was found floating in the river at the bottom of the iconic falls, that straddle the border with Brazil, hours after her suicide last Thursday, reports El Litoral Concordia.

Diario Popular reports that Heck, from Puerto Esperanza, had posted several messages 'warning' of her imminent death on Facebook.

It has not yet been made clear what illness she was suffering from, but it has been reported that she was suffering from depression

Heck had repeatedly posted a video about the symptoms of depression on her Facebook page

Small waterfalls were also among the images she posted onto the website.

The video of Ms Heck at Iguaza was uploaded to YouTube by a user called delakbeza2010.

The Iguazu Falls lie on the border of Argentina and Brazil and are among the largest in the world.

The border runs through Devil's Throat - where Heck jumped - which is a U-shaped chasm almost 500ft wide.
