A Salem woman has been convicted in connection with her 2-year-old daughter's murder.

Amanda Burciaga was found guilty on three counts of criminal mistreatment. Prosecutors said the 20 year old failed to take action to protect her two children from her boyfriend, Russell Ros.

Natalia Lee died in March 2008 of blunt force trauma after Ros stomped and kicked her. He was sentenced to 77 years in prison.

Defense attorney Lester Seto said during his opening statement there is no evidence his client knew that Ros was abusing the girl and her 4-year-old brother.

However, The Statesman Journal reports that Burciaga left her children in Ros' care while she worked out-of-state as a prostitute. Ros had a previous conviction for physically abusing her son and was ordered not to have further contact with the children.

Burciaga will be sentenced next month.

The boy has since been adopted by another family.
