On Dec. 9, at approximately 8 a.m., Plano Police Officers responded to a disturbance call in the 3000 block of Bandolino Lane.

A Plano resident called 9-1-1, reporting that a man and woman were behind his house and the female was being assaulted by the male.

The resident confronted the two individuals with a handgun and ordered the male to stop the assault. The suspect then entered the backyard of the resident and again was ordered to stop. The resident retreated into his home and locked the door, at which time the suspect entered the home by breaking through the rear door.

As the assailant entered the home through the rear door of the residence, the female victim also attempted to detain him. The resident continued to try to stop the assailant who appeared to be out of control and staggering. The suspect fled through the front door of the residence and collapsed in the front yard.

Upon officers arrival, the suspect was lying face down in front of the residence. Officers handcuffed the assailant and placed him in an upright position to assess his condition. Plano Fire personnel transported the suspect to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The suspect, Qwame Lombardo, a 23-year-old black male, was the husband of the female assault victim. The initial disturbance began in the 3600 block of Big Horn Trail where the suspect and the victim reside.

The investigation is currently ongoing and the Collin County Medical Examiner will determine the suspect's cause of death.
