Authorities Monday identified a 26-year-old man killed in a traffic crash early Saturday in Newbury Park.

Fernando Balam Guillen, of Camarillo, died after his SUV rear-ended another vehicle on Highway 101, officials said.

The impact caused him to lose control of the vehicle, which veered off the highway and flipped, according to the California Highway Patrol. Balam Guillen was partially ejected after his SUV stopped on the Rancho Conejo Road on-ramp, the CHP said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the SUV, Axeal Ambriz, 26, of Thousand Oaks, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, authorities said.

The man driving the other vehicle, Kiva Weinsteindelker, 20, of Santa Barbara, and his passengers were not injured.

Authorities closed the highway for about two hours after the crash, according to the CHP.
