Cory D. Vance, 23, Wood Dale, formerly of Lexington, died at 1:45 p.m. Monday (March 23, 2009) at his residence after a 23-year battle with cystic fibrosis.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Calvert & Musselman Funeral Home, Lexington, with Gary DeVore officiating. Burial will follow at Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the memorial home. Cory has requested casual attire for the service, with Camp White Eagle shirts or Hawaiian shirts preferred. A celebration of life will follow the service Saturday at the Lexington Community Center. Memorials may be made to the Cory Vance Funds, in care of Heartland Bank, P.O. Box 80, Lexington, IL.

Cory was born Feb. 18, 1986, in Normal, the son of Mark and Michelle M. Lindholm Vance.

Surviving are his mother, Michelle (Mike Vermeland) Mohr, Wood Dale; two brothers, Casey Mohr, Wood Dale, and Mitch Vance, Atlanta; one sister, Amber (David) Elliott, and one nephew, Kaleb Matthew Elliott; both of Adelaide, Australia; a great-grandmother, A. Louise Patton; great-grandfather, Clyde (Gail) DeVore Jr.; and great-grandparents, Roy and Lois Lindholm, all of Lexington; grandparents, Cliff and Diana Piper, Lexington; grandfather, Terry Lindholm, Bloomington; grandparents, Delmar and Arlene Vance, Normal; and several aunts and uncles.

Cory worked as a staff member at Camp White Eagle in Leaf River and was a member of the Camp White Eagle Whiteside 4-H club. He had attended Lexington schools.
