A serious car crash in Rankin County on Greenfield Road near the Mississippi State Hospital killed one person and injured another Friday morning.
According to Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey a white sedan and a black pick-up truck crashed head-on just after 7 a.m. near Highway 468.
The driver of the white car, 19-year-old Luis Manuel Vargas, of Pearl, was pronounced dead at the scene. The unidentified driver of the truck was transported to the hospital by ambulance with unspecified injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle, according to Bailey.
