A Corry man died early Sunday morning following a crash in Union Township.

Corry-based state police report that Dustin A. Thomas, 23, was operating a 2000 Volkswagen Golf traveling west on Rt. 6, approximately 99 feet east of Turnpike Rd., at approximately 12:15 a.m. Feb. 17.

According to police, Thomas traveled off the right side of the roadway while negotiating a left hand curve. His vehicle then traveled into a ditch before grazing a utility pole with its front passenger side. The vehicle then began to overturn as it struck two street sign and returned to the roadway.

During the crash, Thomas was ejected through the vehicle's sunroof and landed on the roadway.

Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene by the Erie County Coroner's Office.

The Union City and Elgin Volunteer Fire Departments and Corry Emergency Medical Services responded to the crash.
