Alaska State Troopers say a 19-year-old man hunting alone died in an accidental shooting on the Kenai Peninsula.

Trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters tells the Peninsula Clarion that Jonathan Granger was hunting Sunday afternoon near Soldotna.

Peters says by email that Granger suffered the wound near his home on Isaak Road and was able to call his family.

Family members called troopers at 2:46 p.m.

Troopers and emergency personnel from Central Emergency Services responded.
