Rainsville Police are closing the investigating a deadly one-vehicle crash that killed two Section High School students Friday night.

Officials say it happened about 8:20 p.m. on Carter Street. Rainsville Police Chief Charles Centers says Jordan Cole Hooper, 16, and Kymber McBride, 14, died in the crash. Hooper died at the scene and McBride died at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.

A third teen, Brady Carson, survived. He was treated at Erlanger and is now at home. Carson is 16.

Officials tell WHNT News 19 Hooper was driving the truck. Rainsville Police Chief Charles Centers says they've looked into every aspect of what could have caused the crash. "As of now we did not find any drugs or alcohol," says Chief Centers.

Chief Centers says speed was the factor that caused the deadly wreck. "We're going to take the computer out of the car and file a report, see if we can figure out the speed," says Chief Centers.

He says from the look of the truck the teens were going considerably faster than the posted 35 mile-per-hour limit.

Once the speed has officially been determined Rainsville Police will close out the case.

In the mean time, the crash scene in Rainsville has turned into a memorial. The guardrail where the truck crashed is covered with prayers and messages from friends and family, to remember the lives that were lost. Wooden crosses and bright signs cover trees.

Nikki Smith took time to write her own message. She was one of McBride's best friends. "She was very smart and funny and she had a contagious smile. If she smiled, everyone smiled," Smith said.

Drew Davis is a coach at Section High School, where both teens were students. He says he's known Hooper for years.

"Jordan, he always had a smile on his face, a real upbeat kid. He always made people smile, he was just a tremendous young man," Davis said.

Knowing the two won't be in class on Tuesday, after the Labor Day Holiday, is something their friends and teachers say is hard to fathom.

"It's just not going to be the same without Jordan and Kymber at Section," Davis said.

The town of Section held a prayer service Saturday night, and one Sunday morning. Sunday's was on the high school's football field, where the town usually gathers to cheer on the team they're so proud of.

Davis says the community came out to remember the teens and pray for their families.
