Syracuse police have released the name of the victim in an early morning homicide.
Officers were called to West Calthrop Avenue around 2:45 a.m. Saturday morning.
Police say 37-year-old Dante Bullock was visiting someone at the home when a man came to the door and attempted to rob the house.
Officials say the suspect shot Bullock when he intervened. The crime scene unit remained on the scene this morning searching for evidence.
Anyone with information is asked to call Syracuse police at (315) 442-5222. All calls will be kept confidential.
