Matthew Cogley, singer and guitarist with the indie band Failsafe – best known for their appearance on a 2010 episode of The Inbetweeners – has died suddenly aged 30.
According to reports Matthew – who was from Chorley in Lancashire, passed away in the early hours of New Year's Day during a trip to Belfast.
Local paper the Lancashire Telegraph said he had attending a wedding in the Northern Irish capital and had stayed on to see in 2015.
The cause of his death has not been confirmed.
Matthew's brother Martin was among those paying tribute, saying on his Facebook page: 'We will miss him so much – beyond words can express – and we know that hundreds of other people in Chorley, around the country and across the world will feel the same way.'
He added: 'Matthew was such a talented musician and songwriter. His music with band-mates Failsafe and his solo work was enjoyed by thousands of people.
'It's going to take a long time to come to terms with our loss.'
Failsafe released their debut album What We Are Today in 2005 and followed it up with two further long-players, 2008's The Truth Is and Routines in 2012.
Fans of The Inbetweeners may also remember them from the 2010 episode The Gig And The Girlfriend, which saw Simon (Joe Thomas) getting together with girlfriend Tara (Hannah Tointon) after she invites him to their gig – and he injures her in the moshpit.
Other highlights of the band's career included performing a live session at the BBC's Maida Vale studios in 2007 as well as playing 2010's SXSW Festival in Texas.
