On the early morning of April 1, 2015, Gary Charles DiPierro, 58, of Gorham, passed away from complications from surgery. Gary was born in Portland on May 20, 1956, to parents, Guy and Annie Train DiPierro. He graduated from South Portland High School in 1974 and attended USM.
At a young age, Gary worked in his father's store "Central Market" in Portland. The training he had there lead him to his job as manager of Laverdiere's and then Rite Aid pharmacies. Gary was a dedicated worker, putting in long hours and taking pride in his job.
On June 8, 1988, he married Lynn Babbidge. Gary retired after 37 years in March, 2013. He loved his retirement and being home. If he wasn't in his woodshop creating beautiful furniture, he was spending time with his two dogs Charlie and Sammy. He took them everywhere and they will miss him very much. Gary was also a huge history buff, both world history and researching his family's ancestry.
He was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Annie Train DiPierro. He is survived by his wife, Lynn Babbidge DiPierro of Gorham; son Adam Hastey of Gorham and a daughter Laurie Wing of Portland; brothers Alan DiPierro, and Edward Walsh and his wife, Janice of South Portland, and his sister Judith Pinette of Lyman, brother-in-law Scott Babbidge and wife Debra of Windham; nephew, Jason Babbidge and wife Jamie of Chester, N.H., and several other nieces and nephews.
Lynn would like to thank the staff of the special care unit of Maine Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care.
Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Monday, April 6, 2015, from 4-7 p.m. in the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Portland
