Janice L. Maines, 58, of North Road, died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Hospice House in Concord after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Boston, the daughter of Joseph and Doris (Browne) O'Connor. She graduated from Dedham High School, lived in Weymouth, Mass., before moving to Danbury in 1996. Janice worked as a customer service representative and policy writer for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co.
Janice was a long time member of the AMC and was a volunteer program administrator for the Boy Scouts. She loved riding motorcycles, especially benefit rides for cancer and fallen soldiers' programs.
Family members include her husband, Michael Maines, of Danbury; stepdaughters: Karyne Maines of Nashua, and Kimberly Maines of Belmont; two brothers: Richard O'Connor of Easton, Mass., and Kevin O'Connor of Plymouth, Mass.; two sisters: Patti Shores of Weymouth, Mass., and Maureen Begin of Rockland, Mass.; many nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Church Lane, Potter Place. Burial will follow in Riverdale Cemetery in Danbury.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Concord Regional VNA-Hospice House, 30 Pillsbury St., Concord, 03301. Arrangements are under the direction of Emmons Funeral Home of Bristol.
