Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore blames speed and alcohol for a crash early Sunday morning that killed a driver less than a mile east of Anderson.
Troy Alan Kinser, 23, of Belton, died from head and neck injuries, according to Shore.
Shore said Kinser attended Tri-County Tech and also had a job.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, he was driving a 1996 Ford Thunderbird that was heading east on US Highway 76.
Troopers said the vehicle went off the right side of the road, struck a pole and overturned.
Shore said Kinser was the only passenger in the car and wearing a seat belt.
A passing motorist called 911 after seeing debris in the roadway and the car in a yard, Shore said.
The wreck remains under investigation.
