It is with deep grief and sorrow that our family reveals my brother Adam Sherriff passed away on February 17. He succumbed to his addictions and left us at the much too young age of 27. My brother was a sweet, kind, empathetic and smart young man with a smile that could brighten any room.

We learned that his passing was peaceful, but this is so much harder than I thought it would be.

Your Thoughts and Prayers are Appreciated,

Mark Sherriff

Celebration of Life

Adam's Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. at Fort DeSoto Park, Shelter 1, North Beach. The address is 3500 Pinellas Bayway S, St. Petersburg, FL 33715. This is a celebration of life service that will include photos of Adam, his favorite music, food and drink. We welcome notes or letters sharing your experiences with Adam or how he touched your life – a sentence, a paragraph – whatever you feel led to include.

Adonai Foundation

In lieu of flowers or gifts, our family is asking for donations to be made to the Adonai Foundation. Mark has worked with Robin, one of the founders, for the last 10 years. The Adonai Foundation serves the addiction community by providing Interventions, Recovery Care Plans, Placement Services, Addiction Counseling and Coaching, and Recovery Management, based upon each individual's needs.

In 2012, Robin helped Adam secure a spot in the local Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center. He was able to complete the program and remain sober for 15+ months. This was the happiest I had seen Adam in as long as I can remember.

Although Adam ultimately died from his addiction, Robin and her husband Jason were a huge part in helping him to get into treatment at no cost to us, and we would like to repay their kindness. They now have the Adonai House open in Tampa, Florida for men, and we believe Adam would want nothing more than to help other people receive help with their addictions.

Throughout the Adonai Foundation process, they also empower families with knowledge, support and tools to participate in the recovery of their loved one. They have also started helping restore families' lives through their new division Adonai Restoration. More information can be found on their website at www.AdonaiRestoration.org.

Goal

We know our goal is an audacious one, but we can't think of a better way to honor Adam Sherriff than by knowing other people, both addicts and people facing difficulties life has thrown at them, have a chance at a fully restored life.

Checks can be made out to Adonai Foundation and mailed to 503 E. Jackson Street, Suite 206, Tampa, FL 33602.
