A preliminary cause of death has been determined in the case of a Spearfish man found nearly three months after he went missing.
The Lawrence County Coroner's Office has preliminary determined that Christopher Oien, 28, died from hypothermia as a result of exposure. The cause of death is pending with toxicology reports still out. It typically takes weeks for these reports to be finalized.
Oien was last seen Jan. 15 on video from the Welcome Center in Deadwood. He was walking up Volin Street.
