Donna Marie Nietschke died peacefully in Westminster, CA on February 28, 2018 at the age of 61 after a long battle with cancer.
Donna is survived by her loving children, Matthew and Ashli, siblings Debi, Denise and Ray, along with a number of family members who loved her dearly. She was welcomed into Heaven by her adoring husband of 28 years Michael, her parents and grandparents.
Donna was born on May 15, 1956 in Mt. Vernon, New York. She married her soulmate Mike in September of 1984 in Lodi, CA. The couple welcomed their son in 1985 and daughter in 1987. Their love for their children showed each and every day and they couldn't have been more proud of their accomplishments. Her children remember her as a very welcoming and passionate mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Her door was always open (and kitchen fully stocked) for family, friends, and any new faces passing through. She was known for having a big heart and cooking even bigger meals.
Donna was a generous individual who loved spending time with family. She especially loved testing her luck at the casino whenever possible. She enjoyed her morning coffee and longed to live on the beach one day. She cherished the annual family trip to Aptos, and it's a memory she would hope to live on. She was an active and dedicated member of Christ Lutheran Evangelical Church and would watch via webcam when her illness began to take over. She made many friends near and far as she helped console those who shared the same dreadful disease.
A funeral is scheduled for April 22, 2018 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 13009 N. Elderberry Ct at 11:30AM. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Donna's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the ALS Association or Colorectal Cancer Center https://www.justgiving.com/teams/Donna-Nietschke. The family would like to thank everyone for their support and care given during this very difficult time. She will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know her, whether in person or online.
