A South Side Slopes resident Friday morning fatally shot a intruder during an attempted home invasion, Pittsburgh police said.

Officers responded around 9 a.m. to a reported robbery in the 100 block of Monastery Avenue found the body of Daniel Ling, 18, of Baldwin Borough, on the property.

Police said that Mr. Ling, who was armed, entered the home and got into a struggle with the resident. The resident, who was not identified, got the gun away from Mr. Ling and shot him, according to police.

The resident was treated at the hospital for a cut on the head and then taken to police headquarters for questioning.

No arrests have been made as police continue to investigate.
