Madison Paige "Mattie James" Pulley, 18, died on Monday, November 12, 2018. She was born in Wake County the daughter of Jessica Webb Pulley and Ashley Franklin Pulley. Mattie James was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jesse Pulley, great-grandparents, Leo and Lois Edwards, and Wilson and Lona Webb.

Mattie James battled mental illness for many years and due to her fears she would hurt someone else, she ended her battle her way, with a desire to ensure that would never happen. Due to her mental state, she did not see other options even though we, as a society, believe there must have been another way or that one day, she would be healed of it. She didn't see that happening. Mattie James wishes were for her life and death be able to touch someone in a way that they would be able to fight their demons, so please be kind to everyone because you never know what they are going through.

Her last wishes for life were to help others by being an organ donor.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon November 17, 2018 at the Beulah Christian Baptist Church 8225 Mitchell Mill Road Zebulon, NC 27597.

Mattie James is survived by her parents, Ashley and Jessica Pulley, sisters: Taylor and Amanda Pulley; grandparents: Janie Pulley, and Joel and Donna Webb; a special friend, Anna Overton, her summer mom, Teresa McDonald, her uncles: Brian Pulley and Peter Webb; and her cousins: Tyler and Emma Pulley. Mattie James was also survived by her pets: Finn, Artic, Kodie, Sanuk, Axel, Molly Wilson, Gandolf, Felix, and Charlotte.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, 440 First Street, NW Suite 300 Washington, D.C. 20001.
