Samuel Lewis Yeates, age 21, passed away following a battle with Depression on Saturday, December 29, 2018. He was born on April 2, 1997 in Thousand Oaks, California to Gary and Jennifer Yeates.
Sam graduated from LDS Seminary and Pleasant Grove High School in 2015. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called to serve a full-time mission in Irvine, California.
Sam loved movies and entertainment. He was involved in Theater Technology for 4 years in high school and loved operating the lights and sound and building the sets. He was skilled with electronic and computer technology and generously shared his talents in helping others. Sam had a gift in relating with and comforting others who had mental or emotional struggles. He selflessly gave of his time to be a sincere friend to anyone in need of his listening ear or in need of loving empathy or counsel. Sam was a bonus member in the family of his best friend, Guy Talbot.
Sam loved playing games with his brothers Matt and Nathan and with Guy and Jacob Talbot. He was a protector and mentor for his younger siblings who loved being with their big brother, Sam.
He was preceded in death by his younger brother Jacob Yeates and his grandfather L. Craig Yeates. He is survived by his parents, siblings Matthew (Hollie), Nathan, Rachel, Daniel, Sarah, and Mary, grandparents Trudy Yeates and Charles and Olivia Baird, and nephew Howard Yeates.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1106 E 200 S, Pleasant Grove, Utah 84062, with a viewing the evening prior from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the same location. Additional viewing time will be held an hour prior to the funeral service at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
Interment will immediately follow the funeral service in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
