The victim of an assault last night has been identified.

27-year-old Shawn Rockers died last night at Freeman Hospital after police found him down in a roadway.

The case is now considered a homicide investigation, according to the Joplin Police Department.

No arrests have been made.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday in Springfield.
