Authorities in Martinsville say two people died on New Year's Day in what appeared to be a case of murder-suicide.

Martinsville police said 59-year-old Laura Crowley and 59-year-old Danny Kilgore Jr. were found shot to death inside their home. Crowley's adult son discovered the bodies.

The investigation began at the home in the Shireman Estates neighborhood. Police believe Kilgore killed Crowley before turning the gun on himself.

Kilgore was Crowley's live-in boyfriend, police said. Crowley's son contacted authorities after finding the bodies.

Crowley worked as a partner at a law firm in Indianapolis.

Martinsville Police Chief Matthew Long told FOX59 that Crowley "planned to terminate" the couple's relationship and cited that as the likely motive. Long said several people close to Crowley revealed that information to investigators.

A search of court records did not reveal any previous history of domestic violence between the victim and suspect.
