The remains of a woman reported missing in early December were found in Tuscaloosa County Wednesday, according to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
Around 12 p.m. Wednesday, Tuscaloosa County investigators found a deceased woman near Blue Creek Road, officials said. Investigators believe the woman is 31-year-old Ashley Watkins, who was reported missing in Fayette County on Dec. 9.
Investigators said recent information about where she may be led to the discovery. The cause and manner of death are not known at this time.
Further details about the investigation were not immediately available. Officials with the sheriff's office say more information may be released once an autopsy is performed.
