Gallatin County safety officials have identified 36-year-old Peter Lazar of Bozeman as Tuesday's avalanche victim.
Lazar was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained from the avalanche in the Truman Gulch Canyon.
Gallatin County Search and Rescue, Bridger Ski Patrol, Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center, and Central Helicopters responded to the scene after Gallatin County Dispatch Center received a call of an avalanche.
Two skiers in the area observed the skier who was caught in the avalanche, they quickly located the skier and attempted to resuscitate.
