A Lebanon County man has been charged in the crash that killed a Central Dauphin High School senior in September.

Richard Lee Via, 64, of Jonestown, is charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, homicide by vehicle, DUI, involuntary manslaughter, recklessly endangering another person, and summary traffic offenses, according to a court docket.

Harrison Fenstemaker, 17, was killed in the crash on Sept. 15 when police say Via was driving along Mountain Road in East Hanover Township.

Police have said Via crossed over the double-yellow line and hit Fenstemaker, who was riding a motorcycle. Fenstemaker was wearing a helmet, but he was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries, according to the county coroner.

Via was detained at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said at the time.

Via was arraigned on his charges Wednesday, and is free on $100,000 unsecured bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 21.
