An 18-year-old man who was found dead Monday morning at Oatesdale Park in Martinsburg died from blunt-force trauma to the head resulting from a bicycle accident late Sunday near Martin's Food Market, police said.

Bo Harrison, who had no fixed address, was found Monday at about 9 a.m. on bleachers at the park at 130 Tavern Road, according to a Martinsburg Police Department news release.

His death initially was deemed suspicious after authorities, including Berkeley County (W.Va.) Medical Examiner Rodney Jenkins, responded to the scene.

A subsequent investigation found that Harrison was riding his bicycle with a juvenile when the bike struck a low-height roadway divider on Foxcroft Avenue near the grocery store, police said.

Harrison was thrown from the bicycle and struck his head Sunday at about 11:50 p.m., the release said.

Harrison recovered from the fall and rode from the scene with the juvenile, who remained with the victim before they separated for the night, police said.

There was an attempt to bandage Harrison's head wound, police said.

Though toxicology results are pending, alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, the release said.

Harrison is not believed to have been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.

Police corroborated information obtained in the investigation with video from various sources.
