Kayla Gattis (17) was killed when her car was struck on the driver's side by a dump truck
Seventeen-year-old Kayla Rae Gattis, a junior at Lassiter High School, was killed when her car was hit by a dump truck Tuesday afternoon. Police say Gattis was killed when her 2000 Pontiac Firebird was attempting to turn left onto Bryant Lane from Wenlok Trail. Officials say Kayla pulled in the path of a white dump truck, and that truck hit her vehicle on the driver's side door. Kayla died at the scene.

Danielle McCarthy (16) died from an Ecstacy overdose at a New Year's Eve party
A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 16-year-old Puyallup girl. The medical examiner said Danielle Dawn McCarthy died from an acute Ecstasy intoxication at a New Year's Eve party in Edmonds on Jan. 1. Friends brought McCarthy to Steven's Hospital in Edmonds early New Year's Day after finding her unconscious.

Brian Hiers (26) was ejected and killed from his friend's car who was driving recklessly
Speed and reckless driving played a role in an accident Monday on Interstate 24 near Almaville Road that claimed the life of an MTSU student and seriously injured another, authorities said. Brian T. Hiers, 26, of Antioch, was killed after he was ejected from a Subaru WRX, which was driven by a friend, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesman Mike Browning.

Jeffrey Peterson (22) died when a friend driving on a suspended license wrecked his car while intoxicated
A 22-year-old man was killed and three others were hurt late Thursday when a car traveling at high speeds ran a stop sign and T-boned a second vehicle in South Hill, a Pierce County Sheriff's Department spokesman said Friday. Jeffrey Peterson of Olalla, the man killed, was the front-seat passenger in the car, which was heading east on 144th Street East about 11:55 p.m. when it hit a second vehicle traveling south on 86th Avenue East, said sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer.

Even though they were not dating, or even considered boyfriend and girlfriend by their many friends, Aaron Porter, 21, and Alex Marie Finney, 17, seemed like soul mates; they had known each other for years, and were often inseparable friends. The young Calistoga couple died together beside the Trail just south of Bale Lane in St. Helena, victims in an accident that also, some say ironically, involved one of Finney's employers, Ron Goldin, 51, one of the owners of barVino, where Finney was employed.

Anthoney Nickerson (20) died from injuries sustained after stealing a patrol car and rolling it several times
A Nampa man died Saturday from injuries he suffered after police said he stole an Oregon sheriff's vehicle and led officers on a dangerous high-speed chase. Anthoney M. Nickerson, 20, was taken by helicopter to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Ore., for treatment of his critical injuries immediately after he crashed in a Lake County Sheriff's Office sport-utility vehicle just west of Lakeview in southern Oregon. On March 25, officers arrested Nickerson and two other Caldwell residents on suspicion of stealing a vehicle in Nampa. Officials had handcuffed Nickerson behind his back and placed him in the rear compartment of the sheriff's SUV.

Colin Sasseen (14) was killed when he stumbled into the street while skateboarding and was struck by a car
A skateboarding accident claimed the life of a teenager in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., on Thursday. City spokesman Charlie Cassens said Colin John Sasseen, 14, was struck by a vehicle in front of his home in the 3300 block of Silver Saddle Drive. "Reports indicate Sasseen was skateboarding with his brother in the driveway of the home when he stumbled into the street and the path of a westbound, 2002 silver Honda Accord," Cassens said.

A 26-year-old Reed City woman died Monday from injuries sustained in a crash on U.S. 10 near U.S. 131. Jessica Horchner was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Michigan State Police Reed City Post. The crash occurred about 1:25 p.m. in Osceola County's Richmond Township.

Amber Bedoian (22) was killed in an alcohol-related accident when her boyfriend's car hit a fence and rolled over
Amber Bedoian, 22, was pronounced dead a little more than an hour after the 12:13 a.m. wreck along Simpson Road in Winchester, California Highway Patrol spokesman Chris Blondon said. The driver lost control of the car, which smashed into a wooden rail fence and overturned several times, Blondon said. Steven Allen Howerton, 22, of Hemet, the driver, who friends said was Bedoian's boyfriend, and another passenger were injured in the crash. Howerton was treated for injuries and booked into Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence causing injury, according to sheriff's booking information.

Krystle Raska (21) was killed when her car went off the road, became airborne, and began rolling
A Lake City woman died in a Columbia County vehicle crash early Thursday, the fourth fatal accident in the area where troopers said the person wasn't wearing a seat belt. She was one of seven people to die in wrecks in North Florida this week. Krystle Marie Raska, 21, had been heading home after meeting a friend when her Acura drove off State Road 47, north of County Road 240, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. Raska, who relatives identified as a University of Florida student, died from her injuries.

Devin Sauve (16) and his 12 year old brother Kade were killed in a car crash caused by wintry conditions
Police say the wintry conditions likely caused a tragic car accident. The accident shut down M-52 between Dexter Trail and Milner Road in Ingham County for a few hours. The two-car accident killed two brothers- 16-year-old Devin Sauve and 12-year-old Kade Sauve. Another person in a second car was also seriously injured, but their name is not being released at this time.

Tamara Alston (16) was killed in a three-car head-on collision
A Randallstown teenager was killed and two others were injured in a three-car crash on the Route 26 bridge over the Liberty Reservoir, Monday morning, June 12. Maryland State Police say a westbound car on Route 26 was attempting to pass a car on the two lane road when the car was struck head on by an eastbound SUV. Both cars were then hit by an eastbound minivan. State police identified the victim in a press release as 16 year old Tamara Alston.

Vanna Francis (17) was one of two teens to die when their car plunged into frigid river waters
At 17, Vanna Francis was fluent in the language of her people, the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, and when there was a need for young speakers at potlatches and other ceremonies, she would be among the first to step up. Family members identified Francis, a senior at Port Angeles High School, as one of two teenagers who died early Sunday when the car they and five other teens were in plunged into the frigid waters of the Elwha River, near where it empties into the Strait of Juan de Fuca, about eight miles west of Port Angeles.

Sid Skibinski-Gonzales (19) was found dead the morning after chugging an entire bottle of Bacardi 151
Relatives of 19-year-old Sid Skibinski-Gonzales say the tragedy never should have happened. The young man was celebrating with friends Saturday night at a home on Reseda Lane in Modesto when he drank an entire bottle of Bacardi 151 rum. Police say he passed out shortly after. But when friends checked on him the next morning, Gonzales was dead.

A homeless woman was charged Monday with arson and four counts of first-degree murder in connection with a fatal fire on Fremont Avenue over the weekend. Mary Smith, 43, was charged with four counts of first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated arson, the Cook County State's Attorneys Office said. Police identified Smith after witnesses reported seeing an unkempt woman, wearing clear plastic bags on her feet, near the scene of three small fires, said Edward O'Donnell, commander of the police department's bomb and arson unit.

Brittney Sitzes (16) was killed when a patrol officer crashed into her car at high speeds
An investigation by the Arkansas State Police has found that a West Memphis police officer was using his lights and siren as he sped to help another officer and fatally struck a teenage motorist who had pulled into his path. Brittney Sitzes, 16, of West Memphis, died at a hospital a day after the February 21 accident. Her nine-year-old sister was also in the car and was injured.

Samantha Beaudette (16) died of cardiac arrest 36 hours after being severely burned in a car accident
Samantha was the passenger in the vehicle in which the 27 year old driver was traveling at a speed of 96mph on a stretch of highway that is shaped like a S. The driver never even attempted to apply the brakes. Impact was made on the front passenger side of the vehicle at 88mph. They crashed through a barrier and the vehicle became airborne, slamming into a bridge abutment before coming to rest and bursting into flames.

Andrew Ettelson (40) committed suicide in his car and his rotting corpse was found days later
A corpse rotting in the backseat of a car in Brooklyn was only discovered after a passer-by sensed a foul odor wafting from the vehicle, which had numerous parking tickets. The badly decomposed body was discovered under blankets in the rear of a burgundy Toyota Camry that was parked near Veronica Place and Beverley Road in Flatbush at 9 p.m. The car had parking tickets and a sanitation violation sticker on the window.

A collision between a car and a tour bus carrying the Canadian country-western band Leahy killed the New York woman who was driving the wrong way on Interstate 84 early Saturday morning, authorities said. No one on the bus was injured. Police said the car driven by Jeri DeFabbia, 21, of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., was travelling west in the eastbound lane of I-84 when the accident occurred around 1:30 a.m.

Stephanie Blevins (16) and Tyson Burkhart (18) were killed in a single-car crash
It's been a heart-wrenching time for friends and family members of Tyson Donald Burgess Burkhart. The Ceres teen was buried yesterday at Lakewood Memorial Park after he was pulled from life-sustaining equipment at Memorial Medical Center after falling into a coma from trauma sustained in a traffic accident. Burkhart, 18, was one of five riding in a car which crashed on Hickman Road east of Denair early on Saturday, July 23. Also killed was 16-year-old Stephanie Blevins of Turlock.

Chris Kangas (14) was struck and killed by a car while riding his bike to the fire station
When his last fire alarm sounded, Chris Kangas eagerly hopped on his bike to answer the call. No questions, no hesitations. "He was a firefighter," Brookhaven Fire Chief Rob Montella said. And when Kangas, 14, died of head injuries after being hit by a car while answering that call on May 4, 2002, he received a full hero's sendoff and was laid to rest in a Class A fireman's uniform. Firefighters from as far as Massachusetts attended the funeral, which was steeped in honor and fire service tradition.

Tyrone Torres (21) was shot in the head with a shotgun and his body was found in a burned car
The body of a man found in a burned car in Lower Puna Sunday has been identified as 21-year-old Tyrone Torres of Puna, police said today. Preliminary autopsy results released yesterday found Torres died of a single shotgun blast to the head. Police have charged a 17-year-old youth with with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, second-degree arson and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle. Police are not identifying the youth because he is a minor.

Robert Travers (21) committed suicide by carbon monoxide inhalation
New information is becoming available about the death of a UNLV football player. 21-year old Robert Travers, a junior who wore number 58 died Wednesday night. The coroner say he died from carbon monoxide inhalation and ruled it a suicide. The defensive lineman went to Desert Pines High School and graduated in 2004.

A WEB of secret internet message boards could be crucial to solving the suspected murder of South Australian teenager Carly Ryan. Police investigating the death of the 15-year-old, found dead in Horseshoe Bay at Port Elliot on Tuesday morning, are examining Carly's MySpace website profile and dozens of links on it. Many of those links provide an insight to Adelaide's bizarre teenage "goth" and "emo" world, some sites showing graphic images involving bondage, suicide and drug use.
