The Orange County teenager died in a high-speed crash late Wednesday, behind the wheel of a car that was a Christmas present. The turbocharged Dodge Neon SRT-4 spun out of control about 11:30 p.m. on John Young Parkway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The 230-horsepower sedan -- the second-fastest vehicle built by Dodge, Plymouth or Chrysler in 2004 -- snapped off a light pole, knocked down a tree and had its roof crushed by a concrete utility pole. The woman who witnessed the Sunday shooting death of 22-year-old Chabot College student Shawn Kimbell said she does not know why her friend was killed, but she believes detectives will find out who did it. "I know the killers will be caught, and they will go to jail," said the 22-year-old woman, who asked that her name not be used until arrests are made. I had only found out a few days ago that she had suffered renal failure, but he tells me that she was brain dead and that she was surrounded by her children and loved ones. A one-car accident Friday night in the Buford area killed one teenager and injured five others. The group of teens were travelling on Bart Johnson Road near Ridge Road in the Buford area when the driver, 18-year-old Justin Curtas of Dacula, apparently lost control of the Oldsmobile and ran it into a tree. Curtas died at the scene. The other occupants were transported to area hospitals and are expected to survive. read more...
