Jeffrey Scott Husband, charged with killing his 18-year-old girlfriend in December, will go to trial, a district court judge ruled today.

Vanessa Kay Pruitt was about four months pregnant when she was killed in the early morning hours of Dec. 15 in her Delhi Township apartment. She suffered wounds from four bullets, including two that struck her head, according to forensic testimony.

During a preliminary hearing this week for Husband, Pruitt’s sister testified she used her body to try to shield Pruitt as Husband fired the fatal shots. A local pastor also testified Husband admitted to the shooting.

Judge Rosemarie Aquilina also today dismissed first-degree home invasion charges against Husband. She ruled that based on evidence, Husband was let into the apartment willingly and also may have been staying there.
