A 20-year-old Boulder Creek woman died early Saturday when the car she was driving went off the road and collided with several objects, including a large tree, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Jessica Davison was pronounced dead shortly after the 2:15 a.m. crash on Highway 9 near Two Bar Road. She was the only person involved in the accident, the CHP reported.

CHP officers are still investigating what caused the fatal single-vehicle crash north of Boulder Creek.

Davison was heading north on the highway when her 2007 Kia went off the east side of the road, hit numerous garbage cans, several mailboxes and the tree, according to the CHP. Officers don't think speed was a factor in the crash.

"No, not really. She just veered off the road and collided with these things," CHP officer Grant Boles said.

Davison, a 2007 graduate of San Lorenzo Valley High school, suffered major head injuries. She was taken by ambulance to Highlands Park on Highway 9 south of Ben Lomond to be flown by helicopter to an out-of-county trauma center, the CHP reporter. However, she succumbed to her injuries before being airlifted and was declared dead.

Northbound Highway 9 was closed at the crash scene for about 40 minutes while CHP officers investigated. The cause of the crash has not been determined.
