Authorities say a Los Angeles County sheriff's records clerk was gunned down on a sidewalk, the apparent victim of a nearby deadly shooting.

Adriana Pizarro, 34, who worked in the sheriff's Compton office, was struck by a stray bullet Saturday while standing on a South Los Angeles sidewalk. Police spokeswoman April Harding says she later
died at the hospital.

The apparent target was a motorist, 23-year-old Alexander Castro, who was involved with an unidentified shooter. Police say Castro was found dead inside his car.

No suspects have been arrested.
