Students and faculty at Parkland High School are grieving after losing one of their own in a tragic car crash. 17-year old Sean Apgar was killed in an accident Saturday night in the area of Tilghman Street and Route 22 in Upper Macungie Township. WFMZ's Eve Tannery has more.

TANNERY: This was the scene Saturday night as emergency crews worked to rescue 17-year-old Sean Apgar.

Sunday morning...the scene looked like this, bouquets of flowers remembering the life lost here.

Police say Apgar was riding in a 1993 Acura.
He and the driver of the car had just left Wendy's in South Whitehall with 2 other cars of friends following behind.

OFFICER: 20:12:48 It looks like one driver was passing another who was not involved with this group and as I understand it, he was trying to get back into the right hand lane...and for whatever reason he lost control of the vehicle and then hit the guardrail.

TANNERY: Police say the car then spun sideways, went over the guardrail and went down a steep embankment.

The driver was able to get out himself. Police say it appears that Apgar wasn't wearing his seatbelt. He was ejected from the car.

Police will now be investigating to see if alcohol or speed were factors in the crash. And, depending on what they find out, they say the driver could face charges.

OFFICER: 20:14:17 It depends...if speed was a factor then, yes, the driver could and that's what we're going to focus on.
