Police say a 21-year-old woman died and two people were hospitalized after a truck and car collided in Dorchester County on Sunday afternoon.

Maryland State Police responded to the serious injury collision on Route 16 near Harrisville Road. Authories say a 1998 Toyota Tacoma was traveling southbound and a 2009 Chevrolet Impala was traveling northbound on Route 16.

According to investigators, the Tacoma crossed the center line and struck the Chevrolet Impala.

The driver of the Tacoma, Ryan Richard Adkins, 23, of Cambridge and the driver of the Impala, Joshua Carpenter Tieder, 21, of Taylors Island, Md. were transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for injuries.

The passenger of the Impala, Karey Ellen Webster, 21, of Cambridge was transported to DGH in Cambridge where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police say they are continuing the investigation and charges are pending
