Melissa R. Orgueira, 20, died on Jan. 12, 2010, in University Hospital as the result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. Visiting at the Wilfred Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr., Kearny, is on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. Mass is on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, Union. Everyone will meet at the church and not at the the funeral home. Interment is in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Born in Livingston, Melissa lived in Union before moving to Elizabeth a year ago. She was a member of the Union High School class of 2007, and was scheduled to begin classes this semester at Union County Community College. She was a member of the Iron Bound Crusaders Traveling Soccer Team. Although Melissa's young life ended much too soon, she will live on in others that she helped save because of her parents' courageous decision to donate her organs. She was the companion of Steve Suarez; mother of Jolie Raquel Suarez; daughter of Yolanda and her fiance, Julian, and Jose and his wife, Amy; granddaughter of Antonio and Emilia Reyes, and the late Jose and Teresa Orgueira, and sister of David, Kristina, Ariana, Samantha and Chantall. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation to Jolie Suarez. Her family will create a trust fund for her care.
