Jeremy Lee Gurule, age 23, a resident of Albuquerque, and formerly of Los Lunas, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 11, 2010. Jeremy was born in Albuquerque, NM. Because of a congenital condition, Jeremy received a liver transplant at nine months old. He faced periodic medical challenges, but for the most part, lived his life normally and in very good health. His death was from a ruptured aorta and unrelated to his transplant. He attended school at Temple Baptist Academy, Victory Christian School, and was homeschooled from fourth grade on. After graduation he attended classes at the University of New Mexico Valencia Campus for a time, intending to go into nursing. Because of not being able to take all the vaccinations necessary due to his transplant, he gave up this dream to pursue another, that of eventually becoming a police officer. At the time of his death, Jeremy was employed by the APS Police Dept. as a Campus Security Aide, a job he loved. He was originally assigned to Highland High School and had just been transferred to Del Norte. His father and brother, Ben and Jason, are also employed by APS-PD as dispatchers and enjoyed sharing this special bond with him. Jeremy was also employed part time at The Hyatt Place. One of Jeremy's interests was Star Wars. He was a member of the 501st Legion, Mountain Garrison, Dewback Ridge Squad. Jeremy will be remembered as a fun-loving and caring individual. He will be missed terribly by his family and many friends. Jeremy was preceded in death by his grandparents Vidal (Lee) and Luby Gurule, and Kenneth Parpart. He is survived by his parents, Benjamin and Diane Gurule; brothers, Jason and Gabriel; sisters, Bethany, Rachel, and Rebekah; niece, Lillian; grandmother, Shirly Parpart; uncles, David Parpart, Robert Gurule, and Stephen Gurule; aunts, Carol Parpart and Judith Gurule; as well as other extended family and many friends. A memorial service was held Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Los Lunas Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Eric Redic officiating. Burial took place Monday, March 15, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup, with Jeremy being laid to rest at the foot his grandfather, Kenneth Parpart. Riverside Funeral Home of Albuquerque handled the arrangements.
