Waco police Sunday afternoon released the name of the youth who drowned about 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Lake Waco as James Wren, 17.

Wren and another teenager, still unidentified, were seen struggling in the water at a swimming area in the 2400 block of west Highway 6.

It was unclear why they were struggling, but Wren's companion made it to shore and was taken to a hospital.

Waco police spokesman Steve Anderson said Waco Fire Department personnel recovered Wren's body at the Speegleville Beach area shortly after the incident.

Justice of the Peace Kristi DeCluitt ordered the body taken to Dallas for an autopsy.
