A Pittston man died Sunday in a rollover crash on state Route 6 in North Towanda Township in Bradford County, according to state police at Towanda.

Police said Jonathan M. Sperlazzo, 20, was ejected from the 1998 Ford Explorer during the crash, which occurred around 5 p.m.

Sperlazzo was a passenger in the vehicle, which was driven by Curt Kevin Heitmeyer, 20, of Exeter, who suffered moderate injuries. Curt K. Heitmeyer, 48, of Westfield, sustained "major injuries" in the crash, state police said.

According to state police:

The younger Heitmeyer lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons while traveling westbound. The vehicle exited the southern edge of the roadway and began to slide sideways as Heitmeyer tried to regain control. Police determined the vehicle rolled over several times in the roadway, then exited the northern edge of the roadway, struck an embankment and rolled one more time.

Authorities said none of the occupants were wearing seat belts.

The crash closed Route 6 for more than five hours.

No further information was available from the state police on Monday.
