Hundreds gathered Monday night for a 'Candle Light Vigil' held for 25 year old Jessica Sharp of Cedar Bluff, who was killed over the weekend.

Sharp was the proprieter of the Headquarters Salon on Highway 68 and a huge crowd gathered in the parking lot of the business to pay tribute to their lost loved one.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder after Sharp's body was discovered beside her vehicle in the parking lot of Cornwall Furnace Park in Cedar Bluff at about 4:00pm Saturday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Cherokee County Coroner Broderick Smith.

Authorities were notified a short time later that the suspect who was identified as 39 year old Michael Joseph Snider of a Gaylesville address, had placed a call to police dispatch.

Cedar Bluff Police Department Sergeant/Investigator JP Curry, said that Snider indicated that he was in a wooded area, stating that he had a self-inflicted knife wound, and that he also related information about his involvement in the death of Sharp.

Emergency personnel and law enforcement immediately responded - finding Snider in the designated wooded area approximately three miles away from the crime scene.

Firefighters did establish a landing-zone and a helicopter was landed at Cedar Bluff School, however Snider was instead rushed to Cherokee Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Funeral services for Jessica Sharp will be held Wednesday (February 23rd) at 1:00pm - at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Unity Cemetery.
