Tulsa police confirm the two victims are 27-year-old Kanisha Jackson and 28-year-old Bryan Mitchell. A homicide detective tells FOX23 he believes the motive for the shooting was either revenge or drugs, and police believe the target was Mitchell.
North Tulsa- FOX 23 is working to get some more information about what exactly happened inside of a home on the 600 block of 53rd street North Sunday evening. Police found a couple shot death inside the home, each in different rooms.
A relative of one of the two people dead inside told police she was on the phone with the male victim about 20 minutes before she went to check on the house about 6:30 Sunday night. She could see blood splattered everywhere through the window. A police car drove by the home and the relative waved the officer down. The officer saw the back door was open, and went inside and found the two dead bodies. Another officer who went inside the home during the investigation tells FOX 23 drugs were found in side the home. No weapons were reported found. There is also no confirmation on any shell casings found.
Monday, police did not want to tell FOX23 any more information about the weapons which may or may not have been found because it could jeopardize the case.
Friends at the scene tell us the victim's are 27-year-old Kanisha Jackson and her boyfriend Brian. Jackson is a teacher's assistant at Hawthorne elementary. The couple had been together for over a year.
Relatives tell us Jackson has a 5-year-old daughter who is now with relatives. Police say she was not home when the shootings happened.
When relatives first arrived on scene, they told FOX 23 they believed this was a murder-suicide. TPD says homicide detectives have ruled this out and are treating these as a double homicide.
Police are trying to figure out what happened during the 20 minutes when at least 1 of the victim's was alive and then both were dead.
TPD says they have no motive for these homicides.
Police told FOX23 reporters drugs were found inside the home.
